ABOUT US
My story doesn’t start in fashion, it starts in 7th grade: I was tall and the shirts in 1999 were short. I felt awkward and uncomfortable 100% of the time because my shirts never quite reached my pants. For my alert nervous system, a short top is a big no. Anxiety takes over the controls and she doesn't know what to do. So the short-shirt fad was (and is) a nightmare.
Fast-forward to my twenties when athleisure exploded: Hurray! tops fit...but only if you wear workout clothes. I could find work tops here and there, so while it was a lot of hit and miss, I was still able to find a good wardrobe at the usual clothing companies.
Then the next decade: I was pregnant and learned about this secret market of comfortable clothing.. maternity. All of a sudden I could find long and comfortable tops. At first I thought, YES! Tops that fit! But then I wondered, Do I need to buy maternity tops from now on? Wtf.
While binging Project Runway in my comfy maternity clothes (well past birth), it clicked that I could make my own tops. Surely I’m not the only tall person who likes nice clothes, right? I’m probably also not the only person wearing tank tops all the time because that’s the only thing that feels good.
I found a great production company in LA, started working on the most comfortable top I could imagine, and now Boxjump is a real live thing. When I go to my closet craving some tank top freedom, I now have an option for a normal top that's just as comfortable.
Boxjump is super small - it’s me and my husband. I do the clothing part and he does the million other random things that happen behind the scenes. Our clothes are made in Los Angeles in small batches, and we ship everything from Ikea shelves in our playroom. We launched with tops, but our future is in dresses. Ohhh the dresses. I can't wait for the dresses. :)
Best,
